Danby Wiske to Osmotherley12 Miles
Our walk today was a steady and uneventful. We spent most of our day in pastures and farmlands, gradually making our way to North York Moors National Park.

Our stay at the Church Holme Campground in Danby Wiske was fantastic. Our hosts were so welcoming and the campground was beautifully maintained. Wish we could have stayed longer.

After a nice visit with the camp hosts, we set off on our 12 mile walk. It was a warm one today - high 70’s and very sunny. As mentioned earlier, we spent a majority of our day in crop fields, cow and horse pastures, and eventually climbed the foothills into the national park.

We‘ve caught up to a new group of hikers, including several from the States and Australia. We’re on a quick pace, so we’ll probably not see them after today.

The most eventful aspect of our trail was crossing a motorway (the equivalent of a 4 lane interstate). We practiced patience and made it across without any problems.

We settled into a very nice youth hostel in Osmotherley around 3, but couldn’t check in until 5. Fortunately they sold cold beer to road weary trekkers.

We had a pleasant dinner in town with a friend who we met early on and is keeping a similar itinerary. We’ve enjoyed his company very much.

We’ve got a 20 mile day ahead of us tomorrow, with plenty of ups and downs and a forecast of heavy rains. Its all just part of the experience!
Day 11 Gallery will be short. We didn’t take too many pictures today.
Good night!

Here in the USA, we demonstrated in Cleveland for reproductive autonomy, with the rally led off by a bag piper with a Scottish connection. He competed in 2019 in Oban, being the only non-Scot to make the top 8 cut to compete in the national finals. Then the evening news brings pain of death through gun violence, both for the perpetrators and the victims. We yearn to step into the trail and shed the woes and thus hang onto every word and photo, finding hope and solice. Scatter words, observations, and energy of peace an…
