2024 MESA Bike Tour Day 5

We’ve FINISHED! It was a downhill day, and our hottest so far. (Sorry this is another day that’s light on pics)

We had such a great time with our friends at the Bucyrus club. This morning, they provided a potluck breakfast.

I was able to catch up with two friends I met at President Elect Training over the last couple of years. They’re part of the leadership of the Bucyrus Club.

The lady next to me was our host for the night. While we were visiting at her house this morning, she told us about a kid’s lunch program that she developed and manages. During the school year, she gives take-home meals to 500 kids in the community EVERY week!

After 30 miles on the road today, we stopped in the quarry town of Carey Ohio for lunch. We passed an immense pit quarry on our way to town.

Our planned lunch stop was closed, so we all crowded into a small coffee shop and enjoyed smoothies!

Our 5-day, 235 mile tour wrapped up in the parking lot where it all started at the Tiffin Hospital. The funds we raised haven’t been tallied yet, but all the clubs we met were very generous with their food, houses and dollars for MESA. It isn’t too late to donate! Go to https://www.rotarymesa.org

We said our goodbyes quickly to get out of the heat… and promised to see each other at next year’s tour.

Bob and I found the nearest air conditioned bar and enjoyed a cold beer and burger before heading home!

We’ve done 685 miles since we set out on the Erie Canal trip on 5/27. It’s been a fun few weeks, but we’re ready to give our bodies and bikes a break!

Thanks for following along! Our next big adventure is to Slovenia and Croatia in September, where we’re planning to put 300 miles on our hiking boots!
