Day 3: Another gorgeous day on the GAP!

At 32 miles, it was our shortest day so far, with an elevation gain of 880 ft. We're a lot more fatigued than we expected to be!

Today's trail took us from Confluence to Meyersdale PA.

Our campsite was really great last night. Hosts were great, free beer. Bath house, hot showers. Oh, did I mention the train tracks were about 50 ft from our tent? So happy I packed ear plugs!

A view of the Youghigany River at our campsite.

We biked to a small diner/gas station in Confluence PA for breakfast and had a nice chat with locals and tourists.

Lots of leaf covered trails and bridges today...

...and adorable shaggy mane mushrooms (that won't kill you).

We went through a couple of relatively short tunnels today. Tomorrow we go through a 1 mile long tunnel! There will definitely be pictures.

One happy biker!

Everybody's in the biking spirit!

Our longest bridge today was the Salisbury Viaduct. The steel trestle is over 1900 ft long and 100 ft high.

Coming into Meyersdale, we stopped at a train depot museum with some nice model trains.

We passed up another night of camping for a night at the Donges Motor Inn and Diner in Meyersdale. Tiny but comfortable rooms.

We had a maple milkshake at the diner downstairs. A local specialty.

Tomorrow we wrap up the GAP trail, cross the Eastern Continental Divide and pick up the C&O Towpath. It'll be a 60+ mile day. We're expecting some rain tomorrow night, so we booked a unique lodging in Paw Paw West Virginia. Tune in tomorrow to see where we land!

More fun to come tomorrow!
