Note: yesterday’s post has been updated now that we’re back in the land of 5G! (Click to view the update: HERE)

It was a beautiful day on the Erie Canal!

I’ll start with our last pic of the day, because it was a spectacular view. Photo Credit: Bob Kowalski
Leisurely breakfast of oatmeal and freeze dried coffee
We made our way east along the Erie Canal today from Gasport to Brockport

There are 15 lift bridges along the Erie Canal, and we passed many today. They were built between 1905 and 1918 and are meticulously maintained today.

When a boat approaches, the operator stops traffic on the roadway and raises the deck of the bridge 15 feet to give clearance for passing boats.
We also passed many movable dams, which help with water surges along the waterway

We stopped for coffee in Middleport and realized it was time for lunch.

Three of my favorite things in one meal! Cheeseburger soup, rice crispy treats with sprinkles and decaf latte… Pleasure overload!

We shared the trail with gaggles and gaggles of geese today. We’re relieved that all they do is hiss when they’re angry…

Most of our day looked like this… fluffy clouds, quiet trail. We’re surprised that there aren’t more bikers and boaters around, but we like the solitude.
This was our home for the night - the Brockport Welcome Center. Tent campers and boaters are welcome.
We enjoyed the local pubs before whipping up a freeze dried meal and enjoying the view from our little campground
Hot showers and laundry!

Tomorrow is a short day to another biker/boater camp in Fairport NY.

Good night!
