Inverarnan to Tyndrum, 12 Miles

Updated: May 24, 2022

Spirits were high on the trail today. The sun was out (for most of the day), the trail was not torturous, and it was a relatively short day, distance-wise.

Today’s post will be another light on words, but heavy on photos. We’re tired, had a few pints and have a long day of walking tomorrow.

The day started off rainy, but cleared up by lunch.

We began our day like any good walker in Scotland should, with a Full Scottish Breakfast. Disappointingly, no haggis for breakfast. TAH!

There was a midge sighting this morning. Dominic was prepared.

The trail took us along the River Falloch for several miles. It’s the color of steeped tea and the most plausible reason I’ve heard is due to its origins on the moors above

We had countless stream crossings and some really impressive waterfalls along the way

We passed through some very dense conifer plantations that were just beautiful. As we emerged from the forest, we saw some very severe logging operations - reminding us that the forests are man-made.

Near the end of today’s trail, some of the vistas reminded us of southern Colorado (just replace the heather with pinion trees)

Our hut for the night is spacious! Our friends are in the hobbit hut to the left.

We’re getting quite used to having our own bunk

Another goodbye. Sadly, this is our last night with Neil and Dominic, as they’re taking a break tomorrow. We’ve had a good time walking, talking and drinking with them for the last several days

Tomorrow we head to Kingshouse. It isn’t expected to be a difficult day, but it will be a long one. The forecast is calling for rain, so we’re expecting to be soggy!

WiFi is a bit spotty, so not sure if the Day 20 pics will upload to the gallery tonight.

Good night!
