Our Time in Edinburgh

We’ve had a great stay in Edinburgh. Here are a few things we’ve done to keep ourselves occupied over the weekend:

Is it sacrilege to have a Latte instead of tea with our Cream Tea? Probably.

Lunch at a French bistro.

We both had steak. Délicieuse!

We explored a delightful second-hand bookstore that a fellow walker recommended.

The Edinburgh Marathon route led runners right in front of our flat. We cheered on thousands of runners in our PJs!

First of two whisky tastings. We enjoyed nearly everything we tried.

Sláinte!

We found a cèilidh and practiced our dance moves. A cèilidh (pronounced KAY-lee) is a traditional Scottish social dance with a caller to help the newbees. It was fantastic!

At least 95% of the people at the dance were as clueless as we were. It made the experience even better!

We also explored The Museum of Scotland for a few hours. No pics to share, but it was very interesting. The most notable sight was Dolly the Sheep (stuffed)!

And within 24 hours of heading back to the States, we had to have a negative Covid test. I was feeling slightly off (probably from all the whisky tasting), so we decided to get a take home test as well as the official lab test. Fortunately all tests came back negative…

No Covid for us!

We’re now boarding our plane, heading home after a month of travels. We’re looking forward to getting home, seeing Keppie and Tycho, and catching up with friends and family!

We certainly plan to come back… so much walking left to do in the UK!

Good bye (until our next adventure)!
