Rowardennen to Inverarnan, 15 Miles

Updated: May 23, 2022

I’m sorry to be sappy, but I must say that today was just magical. The trail along Loch Lomond was a walkers playland. We had such an enjoyable time exploring moss-covered boulders, bluebells fields galore, countless waterfall crossings and lots and lots of mud.

Some of the forests we walked through felt ancient. Maybe it’s my overactive imagination, but it’s easy to picture a prehistoric herbivore stomping across the wooded path ahead.

I really don’t have many words for the post… for today, I think the pics speak for themselves.

The dock at the Rowardennen Youth Hostel this morning

Bluebells carpeted the hillsides. Our timing for this trip couldn’t have been more perfect for wildflowers.

Lunch with Neil and Dominic

The Rowan trees were in full bloom

We initially tried to keep our feet out of the mud, but it was no use. The trail was very soggy

Lots of ups and downs along the loch

We said our goodbyes to the “bonny bonny banks of Loch Lomond”

Filthy dogs

Our very well equipped campground had a good beer selection on tap

An upgrade from the hobbit hut from 2 nights ago

Bloggin’ in the hut

Nice view

The campground has a top-notch restaurant. Bob had his first burger in the UK, and was very impressed.

More pics can be found in the gallery.

It was such a great day. We loved all of it, even the soggy bits. We’re signing off to be lulled to sleep to by the rain. Good night!
