WE MADE IT!!!

After an 8 hr layover at JFK, a 6 hr flight to Manchester and a 4 hr train ride to St Bee’s (our starting point for the Coast to Coast trek), we have officially settled in! No problems with flights and our gear was intact upon arrival. St Bee’s is a small town on the Cumbrian coastline. According to our guidebook, the town was established in the 17th century. It’s structures are tightly packed on the narrow inclined streets. It’s a pleasant place to begin our journey.

We booked a room at a working farm/B&B in St Bee’s. The house we’re staying in was built in 1712. According to Bob, there’s a cottage in the back that was built in 1610.

What We’re Drinking

Since we don’t need to worry about driving for a few weeks, we’re going to enjoy a drink or two while we’re here. Our choice today is a cozy pub at the Queens Hotel. So far, Bob’s has had a Pedigree Amber Ale and a Banks’s Original. I’m enjoying a nice semi-dry cider by Thatchers. It was so good I ordered a second.

Travel Nerd Alert!

We’ve started using Apple AirTags in our luggage when we travel. For me, the jury is still out on the usefulness of these little gadgets. The tiny little device syncs to your phone and shows you ”exactly” where your bag is on a map. Unfortunately, the AirTags aren’t always prompt at updating their location and you can easily spend an entire flight wondering if you bag is beneath you in stowage, or sitting on the tarmac at JFK.

AirTag: Still on the fence

WiFi willing, we’ll post again tomorrow! Good night!
